Perplexity AI has introduced two new features to enhance the capabilities of its AI-powered search platform. Announced last week, these updates include Internal Knowledge Search and Spaces, both aimed at improving user productivity and collaboration. Currently, these features are available to paid subscribers, including those on Perplexity Pro and Enterprise Pro plans.
New Features in Perplexity AI
In a blog post, Perplexity AI revealed the Internal Knowledge Search feature, which allows users to search prompts and receive responses based on an internal knowledge base they’ve uploaded. While users could previously upload files and get answers, this new feature combines responses from both uploaded files and public web searches, providing a more comprehensive and contextual response. This enhancement enables users to tailor their search experience based on a mix of internal and external data, making it easier to find and digest information.
Perplexity’s CEO, Aravind Srinivas, emphasized the value of this feature for enterprise customers, noting that the ability to search across both internal and external sources in one consolidated platform brings significant productivity gains.
The second feature, Perplexity Spaces, focuses on collaboration. It allows users to create shared workspaces where multiple people can collaborate on research projects. Spaces lets users invite coworkers or friends to add internal files and organize information collectively. Collaborators can also select specific AI models and set instructions on how the chatbot should respond to inquiries. This makes teamwork more efficient, especially for businesses that need to pool data from different sources.
Privacy and Future Integrations
Regarding privacy, Perplexity AI assured users that the platform will maintain a secure and private environment for research, though it did not clarify whether AI models will be trained on user data within Spaces. Additionally, the company plans to integrate third-party data sources like Crunchbase and FactSet for Enterprise Pro subscribers. This means that users with subscriptions to these services can incorporate information from these sources into their internal knowledge bases, further expanding the platform’s versatility.
